Asep Adhikerana, Phd.

Associate Researcher (Conservation Biologist)

Resume

Asep Adhikerana is an expert on conservation issues in Indonesia, with more than 30 years of experience in conservation and environmental programs and environmental education in Indonesia. He has experience in all aspects of program management, including administration, finance, monitoring and technical matters relating to forest/biodiversity conservation and climate change in Indonesia (eg, Sumatra and Kalimantan, Indonesia). Dr. Adhikerana promotes conservation-oriented best practices in Indonesia’s extractive industries, such as the logging industry, coal mining industry, plantation forests, and oil palm plantations through the use of the HCV/HCS approach. In doing so, he works closely with industries with unique experiences, where the approach to developing sustainable best practices for each type of industry differs as each has its own business goals. In environmental policy issues, mainstreaming nature conservation into regional spatial plans (both provincial and district levels) has become his extensive experience.
